KINDNESS

Use of Funds: KHEL provides 251 children from Nursery through 8th grade with education and support. Fees remained the same in 2025: ₹5,000 per year ($61/€53), due to government regulations regarding fees increases. Most parents still pay much less, and some pay nothing at all. As much as we support government initiatives that help the poor, this has put KHEL’s finances under extreme stress. KHEL’s dedicated team of 24 employees keep everything running smoothly, even though we weren’t able to give them a cost-of-living increase.

“I am very happy with the progress Priyanshi has made at LDA. The teachers are caring and supportive, and the school provides many opportunities for children to learn and grow. I see a big change in her confidence and happiness.”
Beena Devi, Mother of
Priyanshi, Class 5

Administrative Updates: Retirements: Two respected members of our LDA family retired. Rajkumari, our founding teacher, has been with us since the very beginning of the school. Her dedication, warmth, and service have shaped generations of children and remain a cornerstone of our history. Asha S, who served faithfully for 18 years, also retired. Her hard work, kindness, and commitment to our students have left a lasting impact on our community. We thank both of them for their remarkable years of service and wish them happiness and good health in the years ahead.

Annual Board Meetings were held in the US and India to discuss KHEL’s finances and other administrative issues. Renovations, Repairs, Required Upgrades: Painted classrooms, repaired and repainted desks and chairs, enhanced outdoor seating. Community Aid and Activities: Winter clothes to our kids, LDA served as voting center for municipal elections, voter registration, parent/teacher association meeting, provided food rations and medical supplies to 51 people living in four leprosy colonies in Dehradun, continuing our commitment to supporting those who need it most.

“My chair is pretty. It makes me happy in class when I talk to my friends, sing rhymes, and have fun.” Maira, UKG

HEALTH

On International Yoga Day, students participated in a calming yoga session promoting physical fitness and mental peace. In collaboration with the Leo Club, LDA organized a Drug Awareness program to guide young people toward better lifestyle choices. A counselling session on Menstrual Awareness was organized for senior girls. A free eye check-up camp was held on campus. With the help of Mission Clean Doon, a Cleanliness Awareness Drive was organized at LDA. Mindfulness and wellness activities in the classroom and on the playing field supported our learners in staying mentally and physically strong.

“The eye check-up camp and the workshops on menstrual health and breast cancer taught us so much. I feel more aware about my health now, and the self-defense classes made me feel strong and confident.”
Ayesha, Class 7

EDUCATION

Educational Aid: KHEL provided free and subsidized education to 251 students, while continuing to support young adults in university and technical education programs. LDA Activities: Inter-school competitions, environmental education, science projects, drawing competition and general PTMs with result declarations kept parents informed and connected. As per the education department’s directive, Bagless Day was observed on the last Saturday of every month, providing students with opportunities for creative and experiential learning beyond textbooks. Throughout the year, various academic and co-curricular learning activities enriched the learning experience. Teachers: Teachers attended online training sessions conducted by IITM Pravartak and BodhBridge, helping them enhance their teaching skills.

“The General Knowledge competition and classroom activities helped me learn so many new things this year. Our teachers explain everything so well that studying becomes interesting and enjoyable every day.” Hemant, Class 8

LAUGHTER

The year was filled with smiles, creativity, and joy. Nursery students enjoyed planting saplings and creating patterns in the soil. Together we celebrated Republic Day, Rakhi, Holi, International Women’s Day, World Health Day, Earth Day, Mothers’ Day, Menstrual Hygiene Day, Independence Day, Harela Festival, Rakhi, World Photo Day, Janmashtami, Gandhi Jayanti, Diwali, Teachers’ Day, Sports Day, Children’s Day, Christmas, Teej, and Karwa Chauth. During the festival of Harela, our students learned to be kind toward nature by planting saplings and seeds across the LDA campus. Our older students were invited by Raphael Ryder for a Fair organized by them to let kids enjoy fun games and gifts. Special visits this year added even more happiness. Shruti (KHEL India Board President), guests from Germany, and Canada visited the campus, bringing chocolates, snacks, gifts, and warm encouragement that lit up the children’s faces with smiles. Competitions such as the Rangoli-making competition, Rakhi-making competition, grammar and creative activities, and other classroom-based challenges made the year memorable, adding fun, excitement, and opportunities for students to express their talents. A truly heartfelt joy for us this year was the arrival of baby girls to both Anirudh and Nikita. Our warmest congratulations to their families on this beautiful blessing.

“Musical chairs is my favorite game at school! I feel so happy when our teacher gives us coloring books because I love coloring so much. My school is the best ever.”
Ismail, Class K.G.
